About Us
We embarked on our culinary journey together in 2005, when we discovered our shared passion for food, and willingness to try anything at least once! Our appetite for different foods grew into an overwhelming obsession to keep eating. And so we did.
Armed with a NEC flip phone, we snapped a gazillion food photos wherever we went. Why did we even do this?! Well we weren’t showing them to anyone, and this was before we were doing it for the ‘Gram. All we knew was that when we looked at these photos, it made us happy, and that was all that mattered.
Word spread that we were eating out. A LOT. Soon we were receiving daily requests from friends and family for dining recommendations. This led to us to starting a food blog, a space where we could share all our food experiences openly and honestly. It also allowed us to put our food photos to good use, which was a huge bonus!
Within a couple of months of writing our blogs, we were invited to cafes, restaurant openings, food festivals, menu launches, and even a teeth whitening session! It was refreshing to meet so many people who enjoyed eating, and talking about food as much as we did. Obtaining a ‘backstage pass’ to talk to the chefs, pick their brains with cooking and where they source their produce from, really opened our eyes to more than what was served in front of us.
In addition to experiencing the delights that food brings, we were also confronted with stories of struggles within the food industry. It was always saddening to see some of our favourite eateries close down, and being closer to the problem, reinforced the fact that we wanted to do something about it.
We decided to create a community to connect food businesses with foodies. And that’s how Foodies Friendly was born! By forming partnerships with eateries and produce providers, we hope to support them in gaining exposure, and for our fellow foodies to try different foods, discuss their experiences, and to broaden their outlook on food.
We’re extremely excited to continue our food journey with you all!
